An Online Shop, On-Site Event Registrations, and More for Nolavore

Challenge

Nolavore is a full service catering company based in New Orleans. Additionally, they offer party pans and platters for pickup and delivery, host cooking camps and classes for all ages, and operate a food retail storefront, coffee bar, and rentable commissary kitchen in New Orleans’ Central City neighborhood. Their team was looking for a new WordPress website to replace their previous Weebly site that would clearly delineate their services and connect with an improved online shop built with Square. We got to work building out this sweet treat of a site.

The original Nolavore site. It is on Weebly and has a simple layout, with lots of menu items at the top.

Enhanced Catering Pages

Full service catering was one of several Nolavore services we focused on enhancing with this new website. Nolavore offers catering for corporate events, weddings, and social events. It was important to them to showcase their range of services, while at the same time standardizing information between them on the site. We built templated pages for each service that include downloadable seasonal menus, access to their full range of available options, and a very thorough catering request form to optimize the Nolavore team’s intake process.

Square Shop for Pickup Orders

Nolavore also sells food items for order-ahead pickup or delivery through their Nolavore-to-Go page. They were previously using Weebly, a product of Square, to facilitate this service. As part of this new website build, we worked with them to switch them over to Square’s updated Square Online product and to standardize and thoroughly categorize their Nolavore-to-Go items.

On-site Cooking Camp Registrations

Another one of Nolavore’s offerings is culinary instruction for children as well as adults through camps and classes, offered both on preset dates throughout the year as well as by advance scheduling. Previously, when registering a child for a camp, parents or guardians had to fill out a registration form and waiver separately from paying for the camp, which led to organizational issues and lots of back-and-forth communication between the Nolavore team and registrants. For the new site, we used a combination of tools to create a calendar of upcoming camps where users can register their child, fill out a registration and waiver, and submit their payment on the site, all in one simple process.

From the Client

As our company grew, we knew we needed a better way to showcase our offerings and make booking events and receiving orders a more streamlined process, but were concerned about being able to effectively communicate the complexity of our vision to a web development team. Online Optimism did a great job of listening and understanding our goals and worked tirelessly to bring them to fruition. They were always quick to respond to our questions and concerns and patient as we made revisions throughout the development process. We couldn’t be happier with the results. Thank you, Online Optimism!
