From our CEO’s Desk: 1 Year Later
It’s been 51 weeks since COVID-19 changed life as we know it. We, like every other business in the country, wrote a post in early March, 2020 talking about resiliency, and how we were going to survive through these next “few weeks.” While we’ve learned a lot since then, there are a few points from that post that feel relevant one year later:
- “What’s going to be key is ensuring that we’re talking with each other”
- “Cash flows are about to start getting pretty wonky for a lot of industries.”
- “Support the local businesses in our city that may face a struggle.”
At Online Optimism, our second value to “Be exceptionally helpful” has been our North Star for the past year. It’s led us to feature entrepreneurs adapting. It’s pointed us toward completing website projects for New Orleans restaurants with a “Take as much time as you need” payment option. It’s caused us to revisit our relationships with the artists of New Orleans who are having a particularly tough year, and our pick for 2021 Donate, Elevate organizations.
At the end of the day, the close of our 2020 blog post feels as timely as ever: “Let’s look out for each other and do what we can to keep everyone going.”

MACCNO supports and organizes with the local music and cultural community to preserve and nurture the New Orleans culture, translate community vision into policy change, and create positive economic impact.
