LinkedIn Profile Tips to Maximize Your Online Presence

Recently, I was asked by the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce to give a presentation to their Ambassador Class about how to find success on LinkedIn. As Social Media Director at Online Optimism, and as an avid personal social media user, I brought my unique perspective to this group of eager professionals from diverse companies.

In today’s digital world, following LinkedIn profile tips is an essential component of building your personal brand, expanding your professional network, and growing your business. Whether you’re just starting on LinkedIn or have been using the platform for years, there’s always room for improvement. In this post, we will cover key factors to help you get the most out of your LinkedIn experience, including why to use LinkedIn, how to optimize your profile, what to post, ways to improve your reach and grow your following, and tips to leverage your personal profile for your business.

Rather than give you a diluted version of that presentation, I decided to upload the PDF in full to this post.

LinkedIn Profile Tips & Takeaways

LinkedIn is THE social media platform for professionals, and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. To bring your personal brand, your company, and your networking into the 21st century, it’s important to become comfortable using LinkedIn as a tool.

Remember that your LinkedIn profile may be the first or second thing someone sees when they Google you, so keep it sharp and engaging, even if it feels a little awkward to do so. Interact with other people in your network and post things that spark a conversation. Give yourself a schedule and stick to it in order to maintain your posting frequency. And finally, use your personal page to bolster your company profile and the accomplishments of your colleagues.

People want to see other people on the platform — what they’re up to, what they think, and what’s new in their industries. Use this platform as a way to relate to others and make sure you remain authentic every step of the way.
