Announcing Our Very First Senior Strategists
Fun fact to start things off: Online Optimism has always been busy, but hasn’t actually given out a promotion to anyone in 3 years.
Okay, maybe that’s not the most fun. Though it is unique, particularly since we’ve grown from 7 employees to 14 during that time. However, with all of our Director positions filled, we’ve been adding Strategists, Associates, and Coordinators to build out our team, and haven’t felt the need to add more layers.
The work of two of our Strategists, though, has changed that. We’re extremely proud to announce that Lauren Walter and Meara McNitt are our first ever Senior Strategists. If you’ve worked with them over the past several years, you’ll surely agree it is well deserved. If you haven’t, you can read more below, about their careers here and enjoy some of the fun things we did to celebrate our first promotion in a while.
What It’s Like to Get Promoted at Online Optimism
A promotion doesn’t just come from accomplishing one task, or doing a good job across a quarter. It comes from years of hard work, determination, and living up to the high standards and values that Online Optimism has for our staff. So a promotion should feel special, and we set out to ensure it does.
First, each strategist received their very own iPad to keep, alongside a custom case. Then, of course, some delicious bubbly made its way to their doors.
But in the end, we realized that physical gifts alone weren’t enough to celebrate such a momentous occasion. So we had a few friends work up some extra special ways to get the message across, customized to our team members. For Meara, we knew the only one that could announce her promotion the right way, with the wrong pronunciation, was the host of “Ya Heard With Perd,” from Parks & Recreation:
For Lauren Walter, our resident poet/punk rock fan, we realized that the only Senior Strategist announcement worthy of her talents would come in lyrical form, so we commissioned a song:
As one of our Senior Specialists put it, it’s like she’s now working at Online Bop-timism.

Meet Our First Senior Strategists!
Meara McNitt
Our social media strategist Meara McNittt received a promotion this month as she continues to encompass our Be Exceptionally Helpful value. Her work with our clients Central St Matthew and Crescent City Schools has meant that both of their campaigns have continued without a hitch despite COVID-19 throwing us a huge curveball. Lauren Walter
Our content strategist Lauren Walter continues to impress by running mutliple successful SEO campaigns for our clients. By embodying our Make Work 💯, value, Lauren has made sure that even our most complex clients receive exceptional content.
